Last year, the Aprilia RS 660 won the 2021 Twins Cup, which is a class of MotoAmerica, the most popular motorcycle racing series in the United States. This was a great first in sports. Aprilia unveils limited edition RS660!
Aprilia has revealed the RS660 Extrema, its latest limited edition model. Compared to the standard model, the bike gets a lot of changes that improve its performance. Here is the full list. The RS660 Extrema looks the same as the standard model, but it comes with a new seat cowl and an anodized aluminium bracket for removing the rear footpegs. Its new weight is 166kg. Aside from that, the RS660 Extrema also has a more interesting paint scheme. The belly pan and front fender are also made of carbon fibre.

I was interested when I first heard Aprilia introduce the RS660. I've been a fan of Aprilia for a long time and like their RSV4 versions, but let's be honest: who needs a 200+ horsepower street bike? A sport bike with a reduced engine displacement and Aprilia's signature architecture seemed ideal to me. As I excitedly awaited the opportunity to test ride the RS660, I began to get input from industry colleagues who had the privilege of riding the brand-new Ape shortly after its production. The response was quite inconsistent. Others remarked that the bike lacked sufficient power and was unimpressive. So when I was eventually asked to ride the RS660 at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, I had no idea what to anticipate. But I was eager to formulate an assessment on the performance of the bike that was not affected by any commitment to the company. As with our past bike evaluations, this will not be a conventional motojournalist review with an exhaustive list of specifications and technical details. This is a straightforward review written by an everyday rider.
